Biography
Dutch-born soprano Debora Berghuijs is a passionate recitalist regulary performing in both the Netherlands and abroad. Furthermore, she is co-founder of OperaNL, an organization dedicated to bringing opera repertoire in Dutch for Dutch and Flemish audiences.
Debora performed the title role in Offenbach’s “Die schöne Helena” at Die Pasinger Fabrik in Munich, Germany. She also was a member of the ensemble for opera group The Fat Lady in The Netherlands. In the 2019/2020 season, Debora will perform the title role in the chamber opera De Passie van Arianne for OperaNL.
Debora started her studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, NL and graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She specialized in German Lieder at the renowned Franz Schubert Institut at Baden bei Wien, Austria. There she took masterclasses with a.o. Elly Ameling, Wolfgang Holzmair, Julius Drake, Rudolf Jansen and Edith Wiens.
